Welcome to Day 2 of the Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals presented by ProtectTheHarvest.com. Two sessions of qualifying in all three Professional categories (Top Fuel, Funny Car, and Pro Stock) are scheduled today, beginning at noon Pacific, to set the fields for Sunday's final eliminations.

Scott Palmer surged to the top half of the Top Fuel field, and Austin Prock continued his strong debut at the Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals.

For the first time in NHRA history, all four Mello Yello world champions also won the season-ending Auto Club NHRA Finals. Steve Torrence completed a perfect Countdown playoff in Top Fuel and was joined in victory by J.R. Todd (Funny Car), Tanner Gray (Pro Stock), and Matt Smith (Pro Stock Motorcycle).

Matt Smith defeated Eddie Krawiec in the final round of the Auto Club NHRA Finals to become the 2018 Mello Yello NHRA Drag Racing Series Pro Stock Motorcycle world champion.

Qualifying wrapped up in thrilling fashion at the Auto Club NHRA Finals in Pomona as Don Schumacher Racing teammates Leah Pritchett and Ron Capps swept the Nitro poles. Jeg Coughlin Jr. and Matt Smith also took the Pro Stock poles.

Leah Pritchett broke the event track record with a sizzling 3.649 to lead Top Fuel qualifying Friday at the Auto Club NHRA Finals. Tommy Johnson Jr. (Funny Car), Jeg Coughlin Jr. (Pro Stock), and Matt Smith (Pro Stock Motorcycle) also lead their respective fields at the season finale.

Todd took over the Funny Car points lead, Bo Butner earned his first Pro Stock win since the Winternationals and Hector Arana Jr. stayed in the Pro Stock Motorcycle race at the NHRA Toyota Nationals.

Steve Torrence clinched the NHRA Mello Yello Top Fuel championship, then went on to win his fifth straight event to highlight the NHRA Toyota Nationals. Torrence was joined in victory by J.R. Todd, Bo Butner, and Hector Arana Jr.
