Richmond Funny Car results: Q2
John Force picked up nearly a tenth of a second over his opening lap of 3.97 and recorded Virginia Motorsports Park’s first 3.80-second Funny Car pass, a 3.899, and is now halfway to what would be his sport-leading 157th low qualifying effort
Tommy Johnson Jr. (3.922), Shaw Langdon (3.964), and Robert Hight (3.967) joined the three-second parade with session-best passes. Despite the heat and warm track, 14 of the 16 qualified drivers have run in the threes or 4.0s and five drivers have bettered the incoming track record of 3.972, set last year by Courtney Force.
First-session leader Ron Capps had fallen to third by the time he lined up in the left lane but nonetheless exactly matched his earlier run of 3.927 to solidify that spot.
