Matt Smith earned the provisional Pro Stock Motorcycle pole with a 6.844-second pass on his Denso Spark Plugs EBR. He’s .006-second quicker than Eddie Krawiec at the end of the first day of qualifying at the Virginia NHRA Nationals and scored all six bonus points – that’s a great start after a not-so-great showing in Atlanta two weeks ago.

The Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson team grabbed the second-fourth spots in the Pro Stock Motorcycle order. Andrew Hines improved to a 6.874 and is fourth in the order behind Angelle Sampey. He also earned a bonus point by making the third-quickest run in the session.

Ryan Oehler sped to a 6.893-second run but was bumped to the No. 7 spot. Angie Smith and Scotty Pollacheck also improved on their previous times but are still down near the bottom of the qualifying sheet, which you can see in full here.
