With continuing precipitation in the forecast, Sunday's activities at the 10th annual NHRA New England Nationals at New England Dragway have been postponed until Monday.

Sunday was a complete wash-out at New England Dragway, but moving final eliminations for the NHRA New England Nationals to Monday did not defuse the enthusiasm of nitro drivers who remain battle-ready with eyes on the seventh NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series trophy of the season.

The predicted forecast was for cool temperatures conducive to record-setting runs and a pleasing outcome for the Mission #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenge at New England Dragway. Unfortunately, the day turned into a tire-smoking affair before rain moved into the area and the day's action was called.

The final day of qualifying for the NHRA New England Nationals was halted when rain moved into the area, but the spirits of Antron Brown (Top Fuel) and Chad Green (Funny Car) could not be dampened. Brown earned his long-awaited 50th low qualifier award, and Green locked into the first of his career.

The 2023 season holds an opportunity that reigning Funny Car champion Ron Capps doesn't want to miss. After going back-to-back with series titles in 2021 and 2022, Capps can go three-in-a-row and four overall if he finishes this year as the top dog. For the veteran driver, it comes down to momentum – particularly at this, the mid-point of the regular season.

Drastically different weather conditions on the second day of the NHRA New England Nationals are apt to throw crew chiefs chilly curve balls as they battle for position. For eight drivers, qualifying will decide more than position — the fourth of 12 Mission #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenges will be contested as well.

Eight championships and 86 national event wins don't fade from memory quickly, and the competition is certainly not wondering what's wrong with Tony Schumacher. Although he hasn't yet nabbed a trophy this year, Top Fuel's most winning driver is confident in his team and comfortable in the knowledge that their time will come.
