Nitro fans at the Muckleshoot Casino Resort NHRA Northwest Nationals are in for a treat today with three qualifying sessions following Friday’s night’s hero session plus two more sessions for Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle.

The nitro teams have some experience in this, having done it at the Virginia Nationals the last two years, but both of those races were in extreme heat to with three runs in the same day in prime conditions, fans at Pacific Raceways could see some really great runs.

There’s not a lot to transfer over from Q1, where Doug Kalitta was the leader in Top Fuel and his Funny Car teammate J.R. Todd No. 1 in Funny Car in sessions loaded with tire shake.

Brittany Force would surely love to get a win here where her dad has nine victories, and younger sister Courtney also has a win. She got close here in 2022, where she was runner-up to Tony Schumacher, and her 340-mph Friday night speed shows that the car is there.

Todd would love to become just the fifth driver in event history to win in both nitro classes in Seattle, joining Austin Prock, Ron Capps, Tommy Johnson Jr., and Del Worsham on that short list. Todd won here in Top Fuel a decade ago and would love to get his first win with new crew chief Dickie Venables.

The dynamic duo of Greg Anderson and Dallas Glenn both broke the incoming track record in Pro Stock to place them in the favorite’s role and with two more sessions today under cool conditions, may well drive the record lower.

The drama in Pro Stock Motorcycle is not who will qualify (spoiler: they all will) but who, between two-time world champ Gaige Herrera and six-time champ Matt Smith, will qualify higher to earn the top speed and the first callout for next weekend’s GETTRX All-Star Callout in Sonoma.

Today’s action also includes the Mission #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenge, pitting semifinal rematches from the most recent event in Norwalk:
Top Fuel
•    Clay Millican vs. Tony Stewart
•    Justin Ashley vs. Shawn Langdon
Funny Car
•    Matt Hagan vs. Cruz Pedregon
•    Austin Prock vs. Ron Capps
Pro Stock

•    Richard Gadson vs. Matt Smith
