The two-race Western Swing will come to a close Sunday with final eliminations at the Muckleshoot Casino Resort NHRA Northwest Nationals, with champions crowned in three Mission Foods Drag Racing Series classes, setting the stage for the final two events of the regular season.

The cool conditions that yielded great performances during Saturday’s final two qualifying sessions are expected to prevail again on race day, and with the tight qualifying in all three fields and the opportunity for even more performance improvements, the event still seems wide open.

Josh Hart will lead the Top Fuel field into battle from the No. 1 qualifying spot, which will afford him a first-round bye for the 15-car field. Hart opened the season with a big win at the Gatornationals but has not been back to the final round in the 11 races since, making him eager for some big momentum heading into the final stretch of the regular season

Points leader Shawn Langdon qualified fourth and will have a tough first-round draw in starting-line artist Justin Ashley while his second-place teammate, Doug Kalitta, will face off with local favorite Shawn Reed.

J.R. Todd qualified at the top of a tight Funny Car field that sported 13 three-second qualifiers and crazy shifts in momentum, and that’s a trend that likely will continue on Sunday. John Force Racing teammates Jack Beckman and Alex DeJoria were nipping at his heels with four-time world champ Matt Hagan right behind them.

Reigning Pro Stock world champ Dallas Glenn had the low e.t. of all four qualifying sessions and was matched in e.t. in the final session by his KB Titan teammate, six-time world champ Greg Anderson.

Six drivers qualified in the 6.4-second range, and the entire 16-car field is separated by just over seven-hundredths of a second.
