Glenn scores in GETTRX Pro Stock All-Star Callout event
Dallas Glenn became the fourth different winner of the GETTRX Pro Stock All-Star Callout in four years, securing the $40,000 prize when Matt Hartford went red in the final round. Glenn would have been tough to beat, going a Saturday-best 6.556 and 207.98 in his RAD Torque Systems Chevrolet Camaro.
It’s the first All-Star Callout for Glenn, who also beat team Elite drivers Jeg Coughlin Jr. and Aaron Stanfield to reach the final round of the bonus race.
Glenn, the reigning Mission Foods NHRA Pro Stock world champion and current points leader, also qualified No. 2 as he looks for a clean sweep of the weekend in Norwalk.
“We made a fantastic run there in the final,” Glenn said. “I'm really excited about tomorrow. I’ve been wanting to get one of these ice cream scoop trophies for a long time. I'm really excited about that, and that nice big bonus check should be pretty nice, too.
Glenn brought a new car to the Norwalk event but appeared to have little trouble adjusting to his new surroundings.
“I don’t feel like I do well in these races, but I just came in trying to do my own thing,” Glenn said. “I don't know if being in a new car kind of kept me from overthinking anything, just because there was so much new stuff, or what it was, but I just tried to stay as relaxed as I could.”
The field of eight Pro Stock drivers was based on qualifying results from the previous 12 months. The higher qualified drivers had a chance to choose their opponents. Greg Anderson called out Erica Enders and paid the price as the six-time champion beat him on a holeshot. Eric Latino suffered a similar fate as he called out Aaron Stanfield and also lost via a holeshot.
In the semifinals, Hartford scored a narrow holeshot win over Enders, 6.58 to 6.57, while Glenn powered his RAD Torque Systems Camaro to a 6.58 to 6.60 win against Aaron Stanfield.
