Lucas Oil Sportsman racing winners shine at Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals
In addition to the exciting Mission Foods Drag Racing Series action at the Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals, 10 drivers also collected Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series wins at In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip.
Garrett Bateman, a three-time winner in Las Vegas, claimed his first national event win since 2017 when he topped Jon Bradford in the Top Alcohol Dragster final. Bateman was consistently in the 5.20s including a 5.285 in the final after Bradford slowed. [video]
Returning to the driver’s seat this year after daughter, Maddi, made the move to Top Fuel, it didn’t take long for Doug Gordon to find the winner’s circle. The three-time Top Alcohol Funny Car champion downed Annie Whiteley in a great side-by-side final, 5.460 to 5.458. [video]
Ryan Warter, whose four national event wins include the 2021 Pomona Finals, scored again in Comp when he drove his Joint Venture Pontiac past Josh Lee, who fouled in the final. [video]
Kyle Rizzoli won for the 16th time in his career and fourth in Pomona when he stopped Jim Grossi Jr. in the Super Stock final. Rizzoli was sharp with a .013 light and an 8.873 on his 8.86 dial. [video]
Justin Lamb continued his red-hot start to the 2026 season with back-to-back national event wins in Phoenix and Pomona. Lamb drove to the Stock title over Jared Jordan with both racers running right on their respective dial-ins. [video]
There was a first-time winner in Super Comp as Pomona’s Justin Morris turned on the win light in the final against Allison McKoane, winning via a holeshot, 8.938 to 8.936. [video]
Mike Wilbishouser pulled off an incredible feat in the Super Gas final with an ultra-rare perfect run. Wilbishouser’s .000 light and 9.900 left no room for runner-up Val Torres, who broke out with a 9.892. [video]
Kenny Snow, winner of the 2023 Sonoma event, put his clean Chevelle into the winner’s circle again after Jack Beckwith fouled in the Super Street final. [video]
Two years after winning the In-N-Out Burger NHRA Finals in Pomona, Grant Durie claimed another title in Right Trailers Top Dragster when opponent Steve Hamilton red-lighted in the final. [video]
Jeff Gilette, who won his first national event title in Pomona in 1992, is still going strong 34 years later. Gilette won in Right Trailers Top Sportsman with a 6.810 on his 6.80 dial to overcome Bill Mizia’s .001 light. [video]
