Sportsman Racer of the Month: Pete D’Agnolo
Pete D’Agnolo has been a world champion and a NHRA U.S. Nationals winner, but it’s not likely that he’s ever had a hot streak that compares to his recent two-week stay at Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park in Norwalk.

Competing in the Division 2 NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series doubleheader and the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals, D’Agnolo went to three final rounds in his Super Stock Camaro and came away with a win and two runner-up finishes. D’Agnolo kicked off the hot streak with a final-round win against Fred Bartoli in the first divisional event. He highlighted the win with a .002 reaction time. Two days later, D’Agnolo went to a second final, where he dropped a breakout race against Larry Eagle. D’Agnolo capped things off with a third final that resulted in a runner-up against fellow world champ Kevin Helms.

All told, D’Agnolo put together a strong 18-2 record across all three events, and he scored 284 points to bring his season total to 446, just 30 behind current lead Leo Glasbrenner.
