
Severance, Gordon, Lane lead Sportsman winners at Northwest Nationals
In addition to the wild Mission Food Series action at the Muckleshoot casino resort NHRA Northwest Nationals, 10 champions were also crowned in Lucas Oil Series racing at Pacific Raceways.
Joey Severance won a rare all-supercharged Top Alcohol Dragster final over Shawn Cowie in a battle of past and present world champs. Severance left first and sped to an impressive 5.15 to 5.29 victory. [video]
A year after making history as the 100th woman to win an NHRA national event, Maddi Gordon was back in the winner’s circle in Top Alcohol Funny Car after defeating Bret Williamson in the final. [video]
Red-hot Jeff Lane continued his rampage through the Northwest in Comp, winning for the 12th time in his career and the seventh at Pacific Raceways, reaching the winner’s circle after his son, world champ Cody Lane, fouled against him in the final round. [video]
Justin Lamb continued to build on his reputation as one of NHRA’s all-time greats with national event win No. 33. Lamb topped Troy Olsonawski in the Super Stock final by just .008-second. [video]
Cal Method, who went to his first NHRA final in 1969 and won his first Wally in 1983, became NHRA’s oldest national event winner at 81 when he defeated reigning world champion Joe Sorensen in the Stock final. Method prevailed by .001-second with an 11.216 on his 11.16 dial. [video]
Doug Johnson took the win in Super Comp, beating Washington-state racer Emmett McKillop in the final round after McKillop broke out with an 8.898 to Johnson’s safe 8.911. [video]
A breakout also decided the Super Gas final in favor of Chris Cannon, who cut a devastating .002 reaction time and turned on the win light in his ’63 Corvette with a 9.910 after opponent Mike Blodgett went too quick with a 9.885. [video]
Jason Biscay claimed the win in Super Street after a double-breakout final round, edging Dustin Ward on a narrow 10.893 to 10.885. [video]
Moe Trajillo now has a pair of national event Wallys after scoring the win in Right Trailers Top Dragster. Trujillo used a perfect .000 light to help in his win against Gene Heaton. [video]
David Cook, who made a serious run at the 2024 championship in Right Trailers Top Sportsman, is close to the top again after winning his second race of the season. Cook topped Joe Mellof in a close final with a 6.726 on his 6.70 dial. [video]
