
Severance, Peavler have monster weekends at Texas NHRA FallNationals
In addition to the exciting Mission Foods Drag Racing Series action at Texas Motorplex, 10 drivers in the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series collected victories at the Texas NHRA FallNationals.
A day after winning the JEG Allstars, Joey Severance scored another big win to remain in contention for a sixth Top Alcohol Dragster world championship. Severance collected the win after rising Tucson racer Jon Bradford fouled in the final round. [video]
With his fifth win of the season and the 48th of his career, Sean Bellemeur closed in on a fifth Top Alcohol Funny Car world championship with the Bartone Bros. Camaro. Bellemeur left no doubt in the final, defeating class veteran Stan Sipos, who was gunning for his first win since 1992, on a 5.52 to 5.89 count. [video]
Sportsman racing icon Jeff Taylor collected his second win of the season and the 52nd of his Hall of Fame career. Taylor, a winner in four different classes, scored his 13th Comp win in the J&A Service A/ED, besting championship contender Joe Carnasciale in the final. [video]
Darrell Stobbe made the long trip to Dallas from British Columbus to race in the JEGS Allstars and left with the Texas NHRA FallNationals Super Stock Wally. Stobbe made a great run in the final with a .007 light and a 10.260 on his 10.25 dial to beat Harvey Emmons III. [video]
Jerry Emmons earned his 20th win and the 51st for the Emmons brothers when he got past Doug Lambeck in the Stock final. Emmons ran a 10.513 against his 10.50 dial while Lambeck broke out by .012-second. [video]
Wayne Landry collected his third national event win, but his first in Super Comp, as the Top Dragster standout defeated Tom Marlow in the final round with a .018-initiated 8.917 that easily fended off 2017 Dallas winner Marlow’s 8.96. [video]
Trisha Owens scored her first NHRA national event title – becoming the 106th female racer to win and the third female to win in as many events – when she eked out a narrow win in the Super Gas final over Bill Dennis, who suffered his sixth final-round loss without a win, by just .005-second. James Gonzales scored his first career win in Super Street, wheeling his ’77 Vega to a final-round 10.921 to collect the win light after Jimmy Denham broke out with a 10.893. [video]
Doug Crumlich scored his fifth career win in Right Trailers Top Sportsman and second this season with a narrow win over Bradley Johnson in the final. Crumlich finished the job with a 6.639 on his 6.63 dial. [video]
Blake Peavler had the weekend that most racers only dream of when he won both the JEGS Allstars and the Texas NHRA Fall Nationals in Right Trailers Top Dragster. Peavler won his eighth-straight round using a 6.208 on his 6.18 dial to beat Michael Kile. [video]
