The pairings for Saturday’s GETTRX Pro Stock Motorcycle All-star NHRA Callout have been announced following a spirited callout where the top qualifiers for the specialty event were able to choose their round one opponent.

As the low qualifier, two-time and defending world champion Gaige Herrera had the first choice and he elected to call out Chris Bostick, who had a close encounter with the retaining wall last weekend in Seattle, but has returned in Sonoma with his WAR-prepared Suzuki.

Last year, Herrera picked six-time world champion Matt Smith as his opening round opponent, and he paid the price for his decision as Smith won the round in the latest battle between himself and the Vance & Hines team.

With the opening round match-up secured, the next choice went to Smith, who elected to go with Bostick’s WAR Racing teammate, Chase Van Sant. Last year, Smith ran the table in Sonoma with a win in the GETTRX Allstar Callout as well as Sunday’s Denso Sonoma Nationals.

Bristol winner Richard Gadson had the third pick and one thing that was certain is that he was going to race a Matt Smith entry as all three remaining riders came from the MSR camp. Gadson elected to go with Northern California native Jianna Evaristo, who figures to be a tough out after making several runs deep into the 6.7s on her JHS/Scrappers Buell last week in Seattle.

With the first three pairings set, that left John Hall and Angie Smith as the final match-up. Hall recently ended a long winless drought in Norwalk while Smith is competing at the home event for her longtime sponsor, Denso.

The unique Callout pits eight riders against each other in Saturday’s specialty race, with competitors calling out their first-round opponent. The winner of the event will receive a $25,000 bonus while the runner-up will take home $10,000.

On Saturday, opening ceremonies for the GETTRX NHRA All-Star Pro Stock Motorcycle Call Out  will take place at 11:10 a.m. (PDT) while the first round will follow at 11:15 immediately followed by the callouts for round two. The semifinals are scheduled for 1:45 pm with the final round at 4:15 p.m.
