NHRA Today: Gladstone talks about his hot start in Gainesville and more
Pro Stock Motorcycle racer Joey Gladstone joined NHRA reporters Amanda Busick and Lewis Bloom in the Wally Parks NHRA Studio delivered by Papa John’s via Skype to talk about his results so far and plans for 2017. Gladstone is a second-generation racer from Townsend, Del., and is planning on running the entire Pro Stock Motorcycle schedule this season for the first time ever. He might not be a household name in NHRA Drag Racing yet, but the 25 year old is well-known in the world of motorcycle drag racing.
Gladstone rides for Joe Riccardi out of Michigan on a Suzuki and made quite the impression at the Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals by making it to the semifinals and qualifying third with an impressive 6.79. He has won 10 championships on no-wheelie-bar bikes, in Pro Street and Real Street. His most impressive feat is running 6.46 seconds at 227 mph on an Outlaw Motorcycle, becoming the quickest and fastest rider ever on a drag bike without a wheelie bar in the quarter-mile. He will run not only for a top 10 finish in the Mello Yello points standings but also Auto Club Road to the Future Award honors.
