The Real Pro Mod Association (RPM) as the presenting sponsor for the NHRA J&A Service Pro Mod Drag Racing Series portion of the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals, June 23-26, in Norwalk, Ohio. The event is the sixth of the 2016 NHRA J&A Service Pro Mod Drag Racing Series season. The RPM Association was also the presenting sponsor of the Pro Mod portion of the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals last weekend in Bristol, Tenn.

The parity in the Pro Mod class is just amazing. We have 13 different body styles, three different power-adders and, well, we feel we have one of the most exciting classes in drag racing. We’re just thrilled to be going to Norwalk. It’s a Bader family track and one of the finer facilities in the history of drag racing. We are really grateful to be there and grateful to have all of those fans there. We are also very grateful for everyone at the NHRA as they include us going forward.”

 

The RPM Association was created by Pro Mod team owners and drivers to preserve and promote the future of the class. All members are self-made businessmen that actively participate as drivers, team owners and/or crew chiefs.

 

Featuring the world’s fastest and most unique doorslammer race cars, the NHRA J&A Service Pro Mod Drag Racing Series offers something for every kind of hot-rodding enthusiast. The growing class is highlighted by historic muscle cars, like ’67 Mustangs, ’68 Firebirds and ’69 Camaros, as well as a variety of late model American muscle cars. With more than 3,000 horsepower, the suspended door Pro Mod cars travel the quarter-mile in less than six seconds at speeds exceeding 250 mph.

 

The 2016 NHRA J&A Service Pro Mod Drag Racing Series is showcased in a 10-race schedule that includes stops at several NHRA national events across the country. Veteran racer Troy Coughlin, who won the Pro Mod event in Englishtown, N.J., is a two-time and reigning world champion of the class. Rickie Smith, another veteran and two-time world champ, raced to victories at the season-opener in Gainesville, Fla., and the third race of the season in Atlanta.  Jim Whiteley earned his first career victory at the second event of the year in Houston while Mike Castellana raced to his sixth career victory at the most recent event in Bristol.

 

All 10 races in the 2016 NHRA J&A Service Pro Mod Drag Racing Series season are airing on FOX Sports 1 (FS1) and FOX Sports 2 (FS2).
