Comeback from crash earns Bracey-Nero Holley EFI Never Rest Award in Pomona
Sandy Bracey-Nero and her husband, Paul, were the recipients of the Holley EFI Never Rest Award at the Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals for their efforts to get their Corvette Super Gasser race-ready to compete in Pomona after an on-track accident at the NHRA Arizona Nationals.
The Aurora, Ore.-based team’s ’63 Corvette suffered a parts failure on a pass at Firebird Motorsports Park that caused the brakes to lock up. The car spun out and struck the guardwall, causing damage to the body that they were able to repair to compete in Pomona just a few weeks later.
“Special thanks to my husband, Paul, Moe Trujillo, and Jerry Denton for the fiberglass and bodywork help,” she said. “This was a team effort. Thank you to everyone.”
