Opening odds released for NHRA Mission Foods Series world championships

With the completion of the 2025 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series regular season, current leaders Tony Stewart, Austin Prock, Dallas Glenn, and Gaige Herrera are favored to win their respective categories.

NHRA fans participating in gaming as part of the PlayNHRA initiative continue to have the opportunity to place wagers on the 2025 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series champions in Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock, and Pro Stock Motorcycle as the series heads into the Countdown to the Championship playoffs at the upcoming NHRA Reading Nationals presented by Nitro Fish, Sept. 11-14 at Maple Grove Raceway.

At the start of the six-race championship battle, the titles in each class are wide open due to the points reset, although there are several drivers who have emerged as strong favorites due to dominant regular-season performances. The experts at Alt Sports Data have provided updated odds for each of the four Professional classes.

In Top Fuel, 10 drivers are in the running for the championship with regular-season leader Tony Stewart sitting in the top spot. As a result, he’s priced as the favorite at +240, which means a wager of $10 would return $34.00 for a $24.00 profit. Shawn Langdon is just 16 points behind Stewart, and as a result, he’s a co-favorite at +300, while Indy winner Justin Ashley is also among the preferred drivers at +375.

Other titles contenders include former champs Doug Kalitta and Brittany Force at +600 and +650, respectively.

When it comes to long shots, the list begins with Antron Brown at +900, with Clay Millican and Steve Torrence in the mix at +1000 and +2000. Josh Hart and Shawn Reed round out the Top 10, and the opening odds for both are +5000.

FUNNY CAR

In Funny Car, Austin Prock opens as a massive favorite after a regular season that included seven wins in 14 races. Prock, the defending champ, is priced at -1600, which means a $10 wager nets a profit of 63 cents. The only Funny Car driver even remotely close to Prock is his John Force Racing teammate, Jack Beckman, who can be had for +425.

With Prock and Beckman as huge favorites, just about everyone else in the field can be considered a long shot, including four-time champ Matt Hagan at +1800. From there, the odds get longer as Paul Lee is +3000, while Spencer Hyde, J.R. Todd, Bob Tasca III, Ron Capps, Chad Green, Daniel Wilkerson, and Alexis DeJoria are attractively priced at +5000.

While Prock is justifiably the favorite, it’s worth noting that Beckman, Hagan, Todd, and Capps are all former champs with a wealth of experience in playoff situations.

PRO STOCK

Dallas Glenn and Greg Anderson dominated the regular season in Pro Stock, and they are favored to win the title at -170 and -115, respectively. A $10 bet on Glenn would return $15.88, while $10 on Anderson is worth $18.69.

There is big value in the rest of the Pro Stock title contenders, including Norwalk winner Cory Reed at +3300, while third seed Matt Hartford is +4000, and recent Indy winner and six-time champ Erica Enders is +5000. Aaron Stanfield, a leading contender in Pro Stock for the last two seasons, is a long shot at +6000, while the rest of the playoff field, Greg Stanfield, Cody Coughlin, Deric Kramer, Jeg Coughlin Jr., Eric Latino, Troy Coughlin Jr., and Kenny Delco, share a +8000 price.

PRO STOCK MOTORCYCLE

Much like Prock in Funny Car, Gaige Herrera is a big favorite to defend his title in Pro Stock Motorcycle. Herrera has dominated most of the regular season, and he’s -1600 for openers. Matt Smith, who is seeking a record seventh title, can be had for +500, while Richard Gadson, who banked two wins during the regular season, has opened at +1200.

The rest of the field, Chase Van Sant, Angie Smith, John Hall, Chris Bostick, Jianna Evaristo, Kelly Clontz, and Brayden Davis, fall between +5000 and +6500. Davis presents a unique situation as he ran just four races during the regular season but finished with a runner-up and two semifinals. He’ll be starting from the No. 9 spot but has the potential to move up rapidly.

Wagering on season champions is a part of the PlayNHRA initiative, NHRA’s partnerships with leading sports books and fantasy sports providers, which enables fans to sign up for free and legally wager on national events and other outcomes in the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series.
