In addition to the Mission Foods Drag Racing Series action at the NAPA Auto Parts NHRA Midwest Nationals, six winners were crowned in Lucas Oil Series action at World Wide Technology Raceway.

Matt Alvey scored his first national event win in Comp, wheeling his H/AA Cobalt to a (-.51) 8.61 to fend off Scott Chamness’ 200-mph B/Dragster by just .003-second at the stripe. [video]

For the second time this season, Kevin Helms drove Doug Duell’s Barracuda to a win in Super Stock. Helms got a free pass to his landmark 30th national event win after Brett Speer fouled by five thousandths. [video]

Jimmy Hidalgo Jr., the current points leader in Super Stock, is also a title contender in Stock after his third win of the season. Hidalgo drove his E/SA GTO past Dennis Lund in a double-breakout final with a 10.901 on his 10.91 dial. [video]

A year after her breakthrough first career win at this event, Alison Prose defended her Super Comp race title and added a second Wally to her collection with a double-breakout final-round decision against Doug Miller, 8.891 to 8.887. [video]

Phil Unruh collected career win No. 8 in Super Gas with a near-perfect .008-launched 9.90 that forced Nathan Prose into a 9.891 breakout. The victory also prevented Prose from joining his sister, Super Comp winner Allison, in victory. [video]

After much success in bracket racing, Dan Lafferty achieved a longtime goal of an NHRA national event win when he beat Curt Fredrich in the final of Right Trailers Top Sportsman. Lafferty posted a 6.845 on his 6.83 dial while Fredrich broke out by two thousandths. [video]
