Cornwell Quality Tools NHRA U.S. Nationals Monday Preview
It's Monday where champions will be crowned at the 71st Cornwell Quality Tools NHRA U.S. Nationals, the final event in the 2025 Mission Foods Drag Racing Series regular season. Here's all the info you need in our daily preview.
In the eyes of many drag racers, today is the most important day of the season as 17 winners will be crowned at the Cornwell Tools NHRA U.S. Nationals. The event will also mark the end of the regular season, and after today the field for the 2025 Countdown to the Championship playoffs will be set.
In Top Fuel, Brittany Force will lead the field into final eliminations after her 3.666 run on Friday night. Force will face off against Ida Zetterström, who finished on the bump, but ran a competitive 3.824 in the process.
As far as marquee matchups, it’s hard to look past Doug Kalitta and Tony Schumacher as they are two of the most successful, and most experienced drivers in the field. Steve Torrence will also take on Tony Stewart in a match that features the No. 7 and No. 10 qualifiers.
Jack Beckman claimed the top spot in Funny Car qualifying with a 3.865 and the 2012 world champ is scheduled to race Justin Schriefer in round one.
Matt Hagan is scheduled to face Cruz Pedregon in a battle between multi-time world champions while J.R. Todd, winner of the Mission #2Fast#2Tasty Challenge, will race against Bob Tasca III.
The Pro Stock field is close with less than a tenth of a second separating low qualifier Greg Anderson from his round one opponent, Mason McGaha. Anderson is also looking to pass his teammate, Dallas Glenn, for the regular season title.
Erica Enders is set to face her teammate, Sonoma winner Greg Stanfield in round one while Cody Coughlin will be paired with his uncle, Jeg Coughlin Jr.
Gaige Herrera is leading the Pro Stock Motorcycle standings and he’s the top qualifier at Indy after a 6.738 run on Sunday. Herrera, gunning for a third-straight championship, will race Chris Bostick in round one. The entire field ran 6.899 or quicker, making it one of the quickest shows of the season.
Angie Smith is set to race against Kelly Clontz in round one while Smith’s husband, Matt, will face off against Ryan Oehler.
In addition to the professional winners, champions will be crowned in Top Alcohol Dragster, Top Alcohol Funny Car, Comp, Super Stock, Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas, Right Trailers Top Dragster, Right Trailers Top Sportsman, Holley EFI Factory X, FlexJet Factory Stock Showdown, Congruity Pro Mod, and the Legends Nitro Funny Car class.
