NHRA fans who participate in the gaming as part of the PlayNHRA initiative will have the opportunity to place wagers on the 2024 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series champions in Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock, and Pro Stock Motorcycle. Following the completion of the Toyota NHRA U.S. Nationals, the Countdown to the Championship fields in all four Professional categories are set, and the experts at Alt Sports Data have provided updated odds prior to the playoffs opener, the Pep Boys NHRA Nationals in Reading.

Regular season champions Doug Kalitta, Austin Prock, Dallas Glenn, and Gaige Herrera are the favorites in each of their respective categories. Kalitta, the reigning Top Fuel champ, has opened at +175, which means a $100 wager would return $275 for a profit of $175. There are 12 drivers eligible to win the Top Fuel title, including former champions Steve Torrence (+506), Antron Brown (+838), Brittany Force (+3,278), and Tony Schumacher (+6,479).

In Funny Car, Prock enjoyed a monster regular season with five wins in eight finals and a sparkling 34-9 record in elimination rounds, which makes him a solid championship favorite. Prock opens at odds of -117, which means a bettor would need to bet $117 to lock up a $100 profit. The Funny Car field is also full of former champions, including Matt Hagan (+398), Ron Capps (+1,308), J.R. Todd (+1,308), and Cruz Pedregon (+24,900). Sixteen-time champion John Force, who has been sidelined since being injured in a crash at the Richmond event, is still eligible to win the 2024 title, with former champ Jack Beckman as a fill-in driver. The Force/Beckman combo has opened at odds of +700.

The Pro Stock field is wide open with 13 drivers officially in contention for the title, including incoming leader Glenn, who has odds of +194, while four-time champ Greg Anderson is a close second at +211. Erica Enders and Aaron Stanfield, who both race under the Elite Motorsports/Johnson’s Horsepowered Garage banner, are also considered favorites with odds of +358 and +565, respectively. Pro Stock champion Jeg Coughlin Jr., who returned to the Elite team on a full-time basis this year, is priced at +1,166 to win a sixth Pro Stock championship this season.

Herrera’s 2024 season in Pro Stock Motorcycle has been one for the ages with seven wins in nine events, and as a result, the reigning world champion is a massive favorite to defend his title at -2,560. With Herrera as a huge favorite, there is value in other picks, including six-time world champion Matt Smith, who opens at +1,218, and Seattle winner Chase Van Sant, who is listed at +3,822.
