NHRA Insider Live podcast returns for full slate at all 2024 national events
Late in the 2023 NHRA season, the popular NHRA Insider podcast was brought into a live format hosted during the Countdown to the Championship races and, following that success, the series will be a feature in the pits and streamed live on multiple platforms throughout the full slate of NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series events in 2024.
Hosted by NHRA on FOX lead broadcaster Brian Lohnes and analyst Tony Pedregon, the two will once again bring the sport’s movers and shakers on stage to talk about all elements of the NHRA universe. Reaching far beyond just the talented pool of drivers, expect the sport’s true insiders like NHRA National Dragster Editor Phil Burgess and members of his staff to join the show with regularity.
The broadcasts will happen on a dedicated stage where fans are encouraged to be part of the show, but the reach goes far beyond the racing facility gate. Live streamed on the NHRA’s YouTube channel as it has been in the past, for 2024 distribution will also include live coverage on the NHRA’s variety of platforms, such as The Roku Channel (USA & Canada), Samsung TV+, Sling Free Stream, TUBI, Plex, and others.
Each show will bring a fresh set of guests, insights, questions, and topics of conversation. If it’s hot in the sport of NHRA Drag Racing, it will be on the Insider Live.
It should also be noted that the sport’s largest weekly podcast will continue as a weekly feature on your favorite podcast apps in audio form and on NHRA.tv and YouTube in video format. The Insider Live is even more fresh drag racing content for hardcore fans to consume.
The 2024 NHRA Insider Live kickoff show will be a banger. If you’ll be at the Amalie Motor Oil Gatornationals, get to the Nitro Alley stage at 11:30 a.m. on Friday to be part of the fun! This show will feature four drivers aiming to make an immediate impact in roles that are fresh to all of them.
Tony Stewart will be making his first attempt to qualify in Top Fuel. We’ll talk about testing, nerves, and the importance of making a strong first start.
Austin Prock and Daniel Wilkerson, the two freshest faces to the cockpit of the Funny Car world in 2024, will also be guests. These two high-energy guys are in very different places than they were in 2023. Prock, pressed into Funny Car driver service for John Force Racing due to Robert Hight needing some time away from driving, has already made waves in the class before the first race. Wilkerson will be a full-time Funny Car driver for the first time in his career after a couple of seasons as a successful crew chief for Chad Green. Both men will be crew chiefed by their dads. This will be can’t-miss stuff.
Finally, the feel-good story of 2024 in Funny Car, Dave Richards, will join the show. The family team was having their best season ever in 2023 having been brought under the banner of Versatran, a division of Scag, until a cataclysmic wreck in Dallas ended their year with bruises and a destroyed car. But the offseason had the team brought in as part of a three-car Scag factory effort, and for the first time ever, they are running the entire season. Richards will talk about that massive transition from part time to full time, his expectations for the first “full pull” he will ever make, and how his team is truly living out a lifelong dream to run the full tour.
Come see it in person at 11:30 a.m. on Nitro Alley in Gainesville or watch LIVE on NHRA YouTube, The Roku Channel (USA & Canada), Samsung TV+, Sling Free Stream, TUBI, Plex, and others. The NHRA Insider Live is as full time as Dave Richards now, and every show will be can’t-miss fun!
