Legends Nitro Series releases 2025 schedule, including U.S. Nationals debut
The popular Legends Nitro Series will return in 2025 with a 10-race schedule spanning events in the six-race NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Racing Series and four NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series events. For the first time, the nostalgic, nitro-burning Funny Cars will compete at the prestigious Cornwell Quality Tools NHRA U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis over Labor Day Weekend.
With series partners Modern Warriors “Your Tactical Specialist” and Red Line Oil returning for the third straight year along with supporters Gearhead Coffee Co. and Scottsdale Car Care & Speed Shop, Legends Nitro Series will continue to build its presence at familiar stops and step up to the big stage with an eight-car shootout at the Big Go.
“We are beyond excited to bring the Legends Nitro Series to the sport’s crown jewel event in Indy,” stated the Legends partners. “The racers who comprise the Legends Nitro Series have done a great job adding to the experience whenever they have participated in conjunction with NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series events. It will be a great opportunity for them to race for a win at Indy that every racer covets and a great opportunity for the Legends Nitro Series to shine in front of a large audience.”
The Legends Nitro Series will also cross the northern border for the first time by headlining the Rocky Mountain Nationals at RAD Torque Raceway in Edmonton on July 11-13. The Canadian track’s most robust event will feature series winners Tim Boychuk and Nathan Sitko taking on their American counterparts at their home track.
The Legends Nitro Series will begin with a flurry in March. The March Meet at Famoso Dragstrip in Bakersfield will kick off the 2025 schedule on March 6-9. It will then be featured at NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series events during back-to-back weekends at the NHRA Arizona Nationals in Phoenix (March 21-23) and the Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals at In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip in Pomona (March 27-30).
The fervent Funny Car fan base at Idaho’s Firebird Raceway will once again host two events, surrounding the Edmonton race with stops at the Ignitor Nitro Opener on May 15-18 and the 54th annual Nightfire Nationals presented by Bi-Mart on Aug. 1-3. From there, the series returns to Oregon’s Woodburn Dragstrip for the second consecutive year to rumble the earth at the Summer Nationals on Aug. 22-24.
The 2025 season will conclude with the throwback nitro coupes competing in Bakersfield and Las Vegas on consecutive weekends. The annual California Hot Rod Reunion will take place on Oct. 24-26. At the following weekend’s NHRA Nevada Nationals, a champion will be crowned at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Oct. 30-Nov. 2.
