Drag Race Bracket Bonanza

With two Countdown playoff races left in the 2023 season Drag Race Bracket Bonanza, the first dynamic bracket competition for drag racing fans, will build on a record- setting participation following the Texas NHRA FallNationals. With the NHRA Nevada Nationals on tap this weekend and then the In-N-Out Burger NHRA Finals in Pomona, Nov. 10-12, thousands of fans are enjoying the free and fun bracket-style online game experience.

Fans can head to the Drag Race Bracket Bonanza website on either their phone or laptop and make their picks round by round for all four Camping World Drag Racing Series classes. Points are earned with every correct pick until there is one overall event winner at the conclusion of the race. Category winners for Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle will also be recognized with plaques signed by the race winners.

“This was an idea I have been thinking about and talking to people within the sport for a couple years. NHRA drag racing has the excitement and drama of the college men’s basketball tournament every national event and we should be capitalizing on that excitement to give our fans more chances to root for their favorite drivers,” said Elon Werner, Creator of Drag Race Bracket Bonanza and Founder of Werner Communications. “My goal is for drag racing fans to fill out their brackets and encourage their non-drag racing friends to try their luck. We are seeing people play and win from across the country which is exciting. Drag racing is unpredictable and the excitement of seeing your favorite driver win rounds should be recognized and celebrated.”

DRBB has been in development since before the 2023 Western Swing and was tested for five races by a group of beta testers leading up to the public launch at the Dodge Power Brokers U.S. Nationals this year. Fans can fill out their brackets on Saturday night when the fields are set, and the opportunity to pick drivers remains open until the engines are fired on the first pair of Top Fuel dragsters to start the first round of eliminations.   After every round, drivers advance, and points will be allocated to each participant’s correct picks until there are four winners crowned at the end of the race. Participants will earn points race-by-race with a chance for one person to be crowned overall Countdown Drag Race Bracket Bonanza champion.

Heading into the Nevada Nationals DRBB will have PA announcements and social media support from the NHRA including a marketing email blast to tens of thousands of NHRA fans. Momentum continues to grow, and plans are already moving forward for user interface improvements for 2024 including the development of an app version of DRBB.

The goals for DRBB continue to be creating a fun game for drag racing fans and to drive fan interest online through social media posts and to encourage fans to watch the NHRA broadcasts on FOX and FS1. Several Twitter and Facebook posts have shown that people are engaging and watching to see how their brackets turn out. Fans can follow Drag Race Bracket Bonanza social media for stats, updates and info on Twitter/X at @dragracebb or Instagram and Facebook, @DragRaceBracketBonanza.
