The 2023 Legends Nitro Funny Cars schedule has been announced. Nitromethane-burning Funny Cars with body styles from the 1960s and 1970s will begin earning championship points beginning at last weekend’s Good Vibrations March Meet at the historic Famoso Raceway in Bakersfield.

Following a successful showcase at the 2022 NHRA Nevada Nationals, Legends Nitro Funny Cars will embark on a nine-race series, where a champion will be awarded at the conclusion of the NHRA Nevada Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway Oct. 26-29. Legends Nitro Funny Cars points will be allocated during six NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Racing Series events and at three NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series events where the class will be featured.
 
The class’ surging popularity continues with two stops each at the stronghold venues of Famoso Raceway and Firebird Raceway in Boise, Idaho, where the category has grown immensely for the past two-plus decades. Funny Car fans in the Southeast United States will be treated with the series coming to the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals in Bristol and the NHRA Hot Rod Reunion at Beech Bend Raceway Park in Bowling Green, Ky., on consecutive weekends this June. 
 
The upcoming Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals at In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip March 30-April 2 is the first scheduled event to take place at an NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series venue, bookended by the series-concluding NHRA Nevada Nationals, where Legends Nitro Funny Cars made its debut in 2022 as a showcase event.
