Jake Opatrny's birthday present to himself: A return to Top Fuel in Reading
Jake Opatrny will return to the driver’s seat of the Leverich Racing Top Fuel entry at the Pep Boys NHRA Nationals for his third race of the year. Opatrny will be representing Nelson Trucking and the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 150.
“Maple Grove Raceway is Gary Leverich’s favorite track, I turned 29 years old on Tuesday, and I’ve never been to Pennsylvania before, so we thought it would be a great opportunity to go out there and get one more race in with me driving the car this year,” said Opatrny. “Pretty cool way to celebrate your 29th birthday weekend, I’d say.
“As of right now, I have no future races planned for the remainder of the year, so it’s looking like this is the last one for 2023 for me driving the car,” he added.
This weekend, Team Leverich’s primary goals are to break into the 3.8-second zone and honor former crewmember Mickey Majors (pictured), who passed away last year due to health complications.
