Five-time Top Alcohol Dragster champ Bill Reichert passes away
Five-time NHRA Top Alcohol Dragster world champ Bill Reichert passed away March 26. He was 71.
Reichert won five straight world championships, 2006-10, and collected 28 national event wins and 54 divisional/regional victories.
Reichert, who began racing as a teenager, scored his first major NHRA victory in 1995, at the national event in Brainerd and his 28th and final t the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals in Charlotte in 2013. Between those two bookending wins, Reichert collected a trio of wins at the sport's biggest event, the U.S. Nationals, taking home the prized Wally in 2006, 2008, and 2011.
Reichert, of Owosso, Mich., was inducted into the Michigan Motorsports Hall of Fame in 2002,
Reichert is survived by his wife Gloria and his two children, Andy and Ashley.
