Two-time NHRA Funny Car world champ Cruz Pedregon will turn corners this Friday after accepting an invitation to race in the famed Chili Bowl dirt midget race on Friday night. Pedregon will be at the wheel of Ryan Hall’s #79M Express Car Wash of Texas. This will be Pedregon‘s first appearance in a dirt race since 2010.

"I am extremely excited to have this opportunity to compete at this year's Chili Bowl Nationals,” said Pedregon. “I came here as an owner, supporting my own car with AJ Bender driving, but when Ryan Hall asked if I would fill in driving his car on Friday night, it's something I couldn't turn down. I haven't been in a dirt car since 2010, but with the technology of the IRacing simulator, it should just be knocking some rust off in practice and going out there to have fun."

Pedregon has participated in the Chili Bowl from 2005-2010, where his best finish was 12th in the E Main in 2007.

You can watch Pedregon on FloRacing.com on Friday beginning at 4 p.m. CT with Hot Laps.
