Second-generation SoCal pilot Trevor Larkin will make national event debut in Pomona
The Auto Club NHRA Finals will have a different feel for native Southern Californian Trevor Larkin. Larkin has been coming to Auto Club Raceway at Pomona since age 2 with his father, the late “Little” Tommy Larkin of Southern California Top Gas fame.
The past two seasons Larkin has been a crew member for Top Alcohol Dragster driver Ron Anderson, but this year he will be behind the wheel as the driver of Gregg Lawrence’s injected nitro machine. It will be Larkin’s first national event after getting his feet wet earlier this year at the Division 6 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event in Seattle.
“I’m beyond humbled to enter this historic venue and line up against the names I’ve grown up watching,” said Larkin. “This is going to be a tough, tough field and I look forward to doing my best. This class has some of the best drivers and I have to bring my ‘A game’ to play with the big dogs. The times the cars is running these days are Top Fuel speeds and numbers of yesteryear. How crazy is that?”
Larkin can now add car owner to his long resumé as he has purchased a former Bob Vandergriff Racing car from Jerry Darien and hopes to have it out on the track in the next season or two.
