The Mopar Express Lane NHRA Midwest Nationals presented by Pennzoil, coming up Oct. 2-4 at World Wide Technology Raceway outside of St. Louis, will be not just another pivotal step in the battle for Mello Yello Drag Racing Series world championships but also a veritable sampler plate of NHRA Drag Racing.

In addition to the drama in Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock, and Pro Stock Motorcycle fans at the Madison, Ill., will witness action in the E3 Spark Plugs NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series and SAMTech.edu NHRA Factory Stock Showdown. NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series competition will also be conducted in six diverse classes.

For the Pro Mod and Factory Stock teams, the event is the third to last of the season for both, and with tight championship battles raging in both, it will be a key stop.

Pro Stock fans will get a triple dose of factory hot rods as, in addition to the traditional Mello Yello-class cars, the Mountain Motor Pro Stock teams will make their second appearance of the season as will the Midwest Nostalgia Pro Stock Association with its tribute cars making passes.

Additionally, racers in the track’s Carl’s 4WD & Performance E.T. Bracket Series will participate in a special the King of the Arch Championship Runoff Frida. The top eight racers in the final point standings in each class are eligible to compete for the Arch title.

The Mountain Motor Pro Stock class is made up of various car manufactures all equipped with at least an 800-cid engine. They produce approximately 1,900 horsepower, use forward facing hood scoops, and run the quarter-mile in the low six-second range at nearly 230 miles per hour.

The Midwest Nostalgia Pro Stock Association, founded in 2010 to pay tribute to the Legends of Pro Stock, impressed fans earlier this season with exhibition passes at the Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals with cars honoring the Reher-Morrison team, Bob Glidden, Bill Jenkins, the Rod Shop team and more.
