Angie Smith became the fifth member of the Denso 200-mph Club in the opening Pro Stock Motorcycle qualifying session of the AAA Texas NHRA FallNationals.

Smith rode her Denso EBR to a speed of 200.89 mph to join Hector Arana Jr., Eddie Krawiec, and her teammates, husband Matt and Scotty Pollacheck, in the exclusive club.

“When your sponsor runs the Denso 200-mph Club, all you want to do is go 200 mph<’ she said. “It's been such a burden on me and I've been on [Matt's] butt the whole time, telling 'I want to go 200,' and he just told me that I needed to put it all together. I'm so happy for my team; they have stood behind me and encouraged me."

Angie’s run of 6.809 was the session’s quickest number until Matt followed a few pairs later with a 6.808, also at more than 200 mph (200.71) to steal the no. 1 spot from his wife.

“We have really good air and a little tail/side wind, our bikes have a lot of power, and now we have three bikes on the club,” said Matt. “It's such an honor to ride for Denso, the sponsor of the club. Their Iridium spark plugs are the key, and Lucas Oil."
