VIDEO: Michael Biehle survives Q4 of E3 Spark Plugs NHRA Pro Mod qualifying in Topeka
Michael Biehle did not make it down the track in the final qualifying session of the E3 Spark Plugs NHRA Pro Mod Series presented by J&A Services. But the racer will get a chance to battle No. 1 qualifier Stevie "Fast" Jackson on Sunday afternoon after yet another tense qualifying session at the Menards NHRA Heartland Nationals presented by Minties.
Biehle set the bump spot with a 5.951-second pass at 252.00 mph and will race Jackson, who grabbed pole position with a 5.795 at 249.95. Chad Green, who is looking for a little redemption in Topeka, is the No. 2 qualifier.
The most recent winner on tour, Brazilian racer Sidnei Frigo, is qualified fourth with a 5.803. Erica Enders will get lane choice against Jeremy Ray because she sits on the quick half of the ladder with a 5.877. Pro Mod teams got a crack at one of the hottest tracks we’ve raced on all year at Topeka Motorsports Park; but just like at Virginia Motorsports Park, the surface is glass smooth – and that made all the difference.
Jackson was the only racer to make a run in the 5.7s, making him the favorites to bring home the Wally on Sunday. Jackson runnered up at our last stop on tour and will have to get by Biehle in the first round to try to get the taste of a recent loss out of his mouth.
You can catch all the elimination action live on NHRA.tv or tune in to FS1 at 5:30 p.m. Eastern on Sunday to watch elimination coverage.
