Steve Torrence won his third straight event in Top Fuel, defeating good friend Antron Brown in the final round at the Virginia NHRA Nationals.

Brown had a solid lead on Torrence until halftrack when Brown’s Matco machine began to drop cylinders, allowing Torrence’s Capco Contractors machine to squeeze by for the win, 3.88 to 3.89.

It was the 10th final-round meeting between the two, and evened the score at five apiece, an amazing stat because Brown won the first five times they raced in the final.

Brown still holds a 29-10 lifetime edge over his Texas buddy, but Torrence’s 34th career win only expanded his points lead over the pack.
