Charlotte champ Mike Salinas, who missed the race in Atlanta two weeks ago for business reasons, continued to go rounds as he powered to low e.t. of the opening round, a 3.813, to dispatch underdog Cameron Ferre.

Steve Torrence, winner of the last two events on the tour, also extended his winning streak to eight straight rounds with a 3.845 conquest of Todd Paton.

Meanwhile, Scott Palmer, who didn’t win a round in the season’s first four races, has now won in the first round at the last four events after besting tire-smoking Doug Kalitta with his best run of meet, a 3.86. After watching Kalitta smoke the tires in the left lane ahead of them, Mike Kloeber moved low qualifier Clay Millican to the right lane, from which he powered to a 3.814.

You can find a complete recap of round one here.

Second-round pairings (lane choice first): Clay Millican vs. Billy Torrence; Steve Torrence vs. Scott Palmer; Mike Salinas vs. Austin Prock; Antron Brown vs. Brittany Force
