Antron Brown, a three-time winner in Phoenix, has his fair share of fans, big and small, in Arizona.

Rookie Jordan Vandergriff, left, defeated former world champ Brittany Force for his first career round win. Force’s Advance Auto Parts dragster backfired the supercharger at the finish line.

The eyes of a champion: 16-time Funny Car world champ John Force was in the zone.

Force battled Ron Capps for the 100th time in their career in this round one clash, which for the 60th time went Force’s way.

Winternationals runner-up Jack Beckman didn’t make it back to the final at this race but the Infinite Hero Dodge was a solid three-second contender.

Blake Alexander’s good-looking Pronto Service Center Mustang qualified in his return to the class, but exited in round one against fellow Ford runner Bob Tasca III.

Good pals Antron Brown, left, and Steve Torrence had to duel in round one, where A.B. took down troubled-plagued Steve-o for the third straight time (including Seattle and Brainerd last season).

The amazing electric eCOPO of Patrick McCue and Leff Lane dropped jaws with a big wheelstand and hit a career best e.t. of 9.783 at 133.54 mph on an exhibition pass.

Event champions, from left, Matt Hagan, Billy Torrence, and Jeg Coughlin Jr. celebrated their victories.
