NHRA Sonoma Nationals

The annual NHRA Western Swing moves to its second stop in Sonoma, beginning with a pair of qualifying sessions in all four professional categories. Friday features a full day of qualifying beginning with Sportsman racing at 9:30 a.m. and wraps up with a pair of professional qualifying sessions scheduled for 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.

The event features action in Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock, and Pro Stock Motorcycle, as racers continued to jockey for spots in the upcoming Countdown to the Championship.

The defending event winners in the pro classes are Blake Alexander (Top Fuel), Robert Hight (Funny Car), Tanner Gray (Pro Stock), and LE Tonglet (Pro Stock Motorcycle). Alexander is back this season, but in a different category: Funny Car. Hight is a multi-time champion, most recently in 2017, and set the national speed record in Sonoma that same year. Greg Anderson and Andrew Hines are the most recent winners on the NHRA circuit in Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle.

You can catch the first FS1 television broadcast, Friday Nitro Live, at 7 p.m. Eastern. All the action is broadcast live on NHRA.tv, and the full TV schedule is available here at any time.

Whether you’re in Pomona, Indianapolis, or anywhere else around the world, you can follow NHRA on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram to get a closer look at the action.
