NGK Spark Plugs NHRA Four-Wide Nationals Friday preview
The second of two four-wide races of the 2019 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season kicks off today with two qualifying sessions at zMAX Dragway outside of Charlotte, N.C.
Just three weeks ago, the teams duked it out four-wide at The Strip as Las Vegas Motor Speedway, where Top Fuel's Mike Salinas scored his first career win and was joined in victory by J.R. Todd, Bo Butner, and Hector Arana Jr. Although Pro Stock is not being contested at this event, Salinas, Todd, and Arana are all primed to make it four-wide season sweeps in their respective classes. Steve Torrence, Cruz Pedregon, and Jerry Savoie are the defending event champs in Top Fuel, Funny Car, and Pro Stock Motorcycle, respectively.
It's a late start today with the first session not slated until 4:30 p.m. local followed by the spectacle of four-wide fuelers under the lights in Q2, scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Here's the day's complete schedule.
