Chicago Funny Car results: semifinals
John Force will have to wait another week to get his 150th race win. Tommy Johnson Jr. defeated the 16-time champ with a holeshot after Force dove right in with his Peak Coolant Funny Car and got crew chief John Collins lane choice against 2017 world champion Robert Hight in the final. That's going to set up an excellent matchup between John Force Racing and Don Schumacher Racing.
Hight got away with a subpar elapsed time in the semifinals against Jack Beckman. The Infinite Hero driver turned on the red light, allowing Hight to make a 4.02-second pass and scoot to victory. Hight is looking to get back to the winner's circle for the first time since the Houston race in April. The Jimmy Prock-tuned Auto Club Chevy took pole position and has already picked up three victories through eight races.
