Robert Hight ran quickest in the first session despite shutting his car off a little bit early and will race Paul Lee in the second round. Lee, who made his Funny Car return at the Arby’s NHRA Southern Nationals, got his round win unopposed when Blake Alexander failed to get his car started in time. By the time crew chief Daniel Wilkerson got it started the parachutes fell out of the car. 

Tim Wilkerson also made a stout run (3.963) and will have lane choice against Bob Tasca III. The car has been spectacular to start the season and Wilk was just .004-second off of his qualifying time. Another highlight matchup is a familiar one: John Force vs. Ron Capps for what only feels like the 1,000th time.
