Meyer scores victory at NGK Spark Plugs NHRA Four-Wide Nationals

The Lucas Oi Drag Racing Series concluded at the NFK Spark Plugs NHRA Four-Wide Nationals this past weekend at zMax Dragway in in Charlotte, N.C. Holden Laris and Don O’Neil earned National Wally trophies and celebrated with their teams in winner’s circle.

The Lucas Oi Drag Racing Series concluded at the NFK Spark Plugs NHRA Four-Wide Nationals this past weekend at zMax Dragway in in Charlotte, N.C. Holden Laris and Don O’Neil earned National Wally trophies and celebrated with their teams in winner’s circle.

Laris, Raceland La., squared off against Larry Roberts of Laurens S.C., in the Top Dragster presented by RacingRVs.com final round. Laris took the starting line advantage and successfully held off Roberts for the final round victory, running 6.235 seconds, 208.71 mph. In the Top Sportsman presented by RacingRVs.com final round, O’Neil, Evansville, Ind., gave up the starting line advantage to North Carolina runner, Sandy Wilkins of Mount Ulla. But O’Neal was able to run down Wilkins for the win finishing at 6.903 seconds, 193.29 mph.

Megan Meyer, Spring Hill Kan., built a lead from the start and pulled away for Dan Page, Hampstead N.H., for the Top Alcohol Dragster final round win. Meyer registered a victory pass of 5.192 seconds, 276.29 mph, Page came in second at 5.250 seconds, 276.97 mph.

In the Top Alcohol Funny Car final round, DJ Cox Jr, Whiteford, Md., Jr pulled ahead of Annie Whiteley, Grand Junction, Colo., but experienced traction issues. Whiteley charged past Cox for the win peaking at 5.467 seconds, 267.59 mph.

The other drivers visiting the winner’s circle were Frank Aragona in Comp Eliminator, Anthony Bertozzi in Super Stock, Thomas Fletcher in Stock Eliminator, Jonathan Anderson in Super Comp, Ken Griffiths in Super Gas, and Arthur Kohn in the SAM Tech Factory Stock Showdown.

Megan Meyer, 5.192, 276.29 def. Dan Page, 5.250, 276.97. 

Top Alcohol Funny Car
Annie Whiteley, Chevy Camaro, 5.467, 267.59 def. DJ Cox Jr., Camaro, 6.296, 177.77. 

Comp Eliminator
Frank Aragona, Dragster, 7.378, 172.83 def. Al Ackerman, Dragster, 7.983, 151.39. 

Super Stock
Anthony Bertozzi, Pontiac Grand Am, 9.411, 110.71 def. Bryan Worner, Chevrolet, Foul - Red Light.
