Firebird celebrates 50th season with Nightfire Nationals Heritage Series event

In celebration of Firebird Raceway’s historic 50th year, the Nightfire Nationals returns to the famed Idaho track Aug. 11-13 for a race marks a key stop for both Funny Car and Top Fuel in the NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Series.

In celebration of Firebird Raceway’s historic 50th year, the Nightfire Nationals returns to the famed Idaho track Aug. 11-13 for a race marks a key stop for both Funny Car and Top Fuel in the NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Series. Leading the charge will be the two top-ranked teams of Jim Murphy in Top Fuel and Jason Rupert in Funny Car.

The event will also play host to open fields of both AA/Fuel Altereds and Pro Modifieds, along with four Jets and the Outlaw Wheelstander.

An event record 57 pre-entered Professional teams (including 35 nitro cars) will be participating at Firebird’s “signature event” from 18 states and Canada. Qualifying will take place at 2 and 7 pm on Friday followed by the final session at 2 pm on Saturday. First round of eliminations is set for Saturday night at 7 pm. Eliminations continue Sunday at 2 p.m.

Adding significance to Firebird’s “signature event” is the Bracketeer Series, as five sportsman classes will vie for a record $85,000 in payouts throughout the four-day weekend.
