Billy Glidden involved in testing accident
NHRA national-event winner Pro Mod racer Billy Glidden suffered five broken ribs and a bruised lung in crash during a test session at the Orlando Speed World Dragway Tuesday.
Glidden, the son of former NHRA Pro Stock champion Bob Glidden, was making a test run in his 2010 Mustang when he reportedly encountered severe tire shake while in the right lane. The car then turned right and impacted the retaining wall before crossing the track where it struck the left retaining wall. The car came to a stop in the right lane.
Glidden reportedly was knocked unconscious momentarily but came regained consciousness as medical personnel arrived on the scene and cut him out of the car. Glidden was alert, conscious and moving his head, arms and legs, but complaining of lower back pain. Glidden was transported to Orlando Regional Hospital via ambulance where he remains hospitalized.
