NHRA community turns out for Denim and Diamonds

The annual Denim and Diamonds event for B.R.A.K.E.S. drew a large crowd to the Great Wolf Lodge.
 
The racing community gathered Thursday, Sept. 15, at the Great Wolf Lodge in Concord, N.C., for the 9th annual Denim and Diamonds Gala, which benefits B.R.A.K.E.S., a teen safe-driving initiative founded by NHRA Top Fuel racer after his sons were killed in an auto accident in 2008.

The event was hosted by FOX television’s Jeff Hammond and John Roberts with special guest speaker Jim Oberhofer, crew chief for Doug Kalitta’s dragster and an award-winning author.

Guests enjoyed exclusive wines, elegant dining, and were able to bid in silent and live auctions.

The B.R.A.K.E.S. Teen Pro-Active Driving School is a free, defensive driving program. The school, designed for teenagers (aged 15-19) who already have a learner’s permit or driver’s license and have at least thirty hours of driving experience, nas trasined more than 20,000 drivers.
