After three action-packed events to open the Countdown to the Championship playoffs, the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series headed to Texas for the fourth of six events that will determine this year’s world champions. The exciting action carried over to the AAA Texas NHRA FallNationals, which featured track record runs in qualifying and a race day that ended with wins by Antron Brown (Top Fuel), Matt Hagan (Funny Car), Drew Skillman (Pro Stock), and Eddie Krawiec (Pro Stock Motorcycle). - Antron Brown all but locks up his third Top Fuel world championship after a dominating performance that included him qualifying No. 1, running low e.t. and top speed, and winning.
- Matt Hagan wins crucial final-round match with Funny Car points leader Ron Capps to put himself squarely back into title contention, moving up to third in the standings.
- Drew Skillman enjoys a get-well weekend, leading a Gray Motorsports surge that featured all three cars making the Pro Stock final four. Skillman bested fellow Gray-powered driver Alex Laughlin in the final.
- Eddie Krawiec picks up his second straight win in Pro Stock Motorcycle and moves into the points lead, moving in front of teammate Andrew Hines by 17 points.
- Nitro track records are shattered during a thrilling Friday night qualifying session that featured the sixth-quickest Top Fuel pass in history, four of the top 10 Funny Car e.t.s in history, and the fifth-fastest Funny Car run ever.
