Top Fuel rookie Jasmine Salinas comes from a family deeply rooted in the drag racing community. Her father, Mike Salinas, is a well-known figure in the NHRA circuit, and her mother and sisters have also made their marks in the NHRA. Growing up surrounded by the roar of engines and the thrill of the track, Jasmine developed an early passion for the sport.

"Going through the staging lanes, there are always fans walking by who don't believe I'm the one driving that car," said Salinas. "There are a lot of people throughout my career who have said I shouldn't be out here racing. When somebody tells me I can't do something — I love that."

Motivations and Aspirations

For Jasmine Salinas, the decision to step into the driver’s seat of the Top Fuel dragster was driven by a combination of personal ambition and a desire to honor her family’s legacy. She emphasized the importance of pushing boundaries and striving for excellence in every race.

"I got a call from my dad three days before Pomona that he had to go to the hospital for surgery and that I was going to have to step into the race car for him,” Salinas shared with Busick.

Embracing Challenges

Salinas acknowledges the challenges that come with the transition. The Top Fuel category is known for its intensity and the physical and mental demands it places on drivers. However, she is undeterred, expressing confidence in her preparation and the support of her team.

Inspiring the Next Generation

Beyond her personal goals, Salinas hopes to inspire young aspiring racers, especially women, to pursue their dreams in motorsports. “I want to show young girls that they can compete at the highest levels and succeed. It’s about breaking barriers and paving the way for future generations,” she concluded.
