Densham Motorsports Inc. has announced a new sponsor partnership with Gary Marcus Trucking Ltd. for its Funny Car at the Ford Performance NHRA Nationals in Las Vegas.

Gary Marcus established his trucking company with one truck in 1989, growing to a fleet of 12 Western Star trucks and 15 employees located in Comox Valley in British Columbia. Marcus has supported the community and his fellow construction companies, providing essential contributions to the growth and development of the communities on Vancouver Island. Marcus also has supported his community track, Saratoga Motor Sports Park, and even races four cars there.

The Densham Motorsports’ Teacher's Pet Funny Car is now in its second generation. Gary Densham began driving a Funny Car in 1971 and still occasionally competes while his son, Steven, now does most of the driving. The Teacher’s Pet name remains appropriate because Steven, like his parents before him, is also a high school teacher. 

“We have been involved in many types of motorsports, so we knew what we were looking for in a partnership,” said Marcus. “The family atmosphere and its values are very important to us. A whole family of teachers giving back to their community is something to be proud of.

“But what really drew us to Densham Motorsports was the passion for racing that both families share. I hope I can race for as long as Densham has. That man loves racing like I do, and the support that Steven has from his dad is the kind of support my dad gave to me. It is a fitting tribute to have my dad’s name on this car. This is the kind of race team I want my company to be associated with. Shared values are important to a successful partnership, and I think we fit with Densham Motorsports.”

The Teacher’s Pet car is known for doing a lot with a little sponsorship and creating long associations with sponsors. Densham also sees a great partnership growing. 

“Both of our companies have grown from small beginnings,” he said. “We have given back to our communities in different ways, but we never give up. Gary Marcus’ sponsorship comes at a time to help us not give up. This sport gives the little guy a chance of winning, and we will do our best to give Gary Marcus Trucking a win in Las Vegas.”
