111 years ago today, Wally Parks, founder of the NHRA was born
Wally Parks did not invent drag racing. But we wouldn’t have the drag racing sport, or the industry that surrounds it today, if it weren’t for him and his extraordinary vision. A statesman amongst car guys, Parks knew the power of drag racing was in the people as much as it was in the cars and the engines. Join us in celebrating Parks' legacy on what would have been his 111th birthday with a piece he recorded in the museum that bears his name.
“We did it together, I take the accolades and the bows, but I’ve never gotten over the fact that it was a lot of people that did it, and I was just fortunate to be one of them.” — Wally Parks (1913-2007)
