Top Fuel Motorcycle exhibition to return at NHRA Virginia Nationals
Larry “Spiderman” McBride and Dave Vantine will be a featured exhibition at the upcoming NHRA Virginia Nationals as the popular Top Fuel Motorcycle class make a return to the Camping World NHRA Drag Racing Series.
McBride, of Poquoson, Va., is easily the sport’s most well-known Top Fuel Motorcycle competitors with numerous wins and records to his credit. The first motorcycle rider to run in the fives, McBride is the current record holder for the class with a 5.50-second elapsed time and a top speed of over 265-mph.
“I’m so very excited and I am so glad we get to do it at home,” McBride told CycleDrag.com. “NHRA does such a great job attracting a big crowd and I know a lot of my friends are coming. We have been looking forward to this for a long time.”
Vantine previously worked as a member of McBride’s team until he began racing his own Top Fuel Motorcyce in 2013. He’s raced against McBride numerous times and is looking forward to the next chapter in their rivalry.
“I am so jacked up for this,” said Vantine. “The bike will be ready and so will I. This is a great opportunity for our team and our class to show what we can do. This is the next level.”
McBride and Vantine are scheduled to run at 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Friday, and 11:55 a.m. and 2:55 p.m. on Saturday.
