Repaved staging lanes, renovated bathrooms head Brainerd improvements
Racers headed to Brainerd Int’l Raceway for this weekend's big Division 5 NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event or the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals later this year will be greeted by freshly repaved staging lanes, and fans will enjoy newly renovated restrooms through the legendary Minnesota facility.
A total of more than 4,000 yards of asphalt were laid in the staging lanes, and the previously out-of-commission ninth lane was repaired and is ready for action.
“We went from tearing up the lanes to having it all repaved and restriped in three days,” said BIR Director of Operations Billy DeVries. “We started tearing it up on Sunday of the last bracket event even as we were still running the race. We got in there with excavators and began tearing it up."
The five major restrooms in the facility are all being remodeled with new fixtures — sinks, toilets, and showerheads — and new wall and floor treatments.
