Top Alcohol Dragster rookie Trevor Larkin ready for debut in Gregg Racing entry
Salem, Ore.-based Top Alcohol Dragster team Gregg Racing will make its first Division 6 NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series race of the 2021 season this weekend in Seattle with rookie driver Trevor Larkin.
Larkin, a second-generation driver and son of the late "Little Tommy" Larkin of Southern California Top Gas fame, will pilot the injected nitro dragster for his first time in competition.
The team tested three weeks ago at the season opener at Woodburn Dragstrip in Orgon as the team began to dust off the COVID-19 cobwebs. The car ran consistent 255-mph-plus passes and got Larkin his first 5.40-second elapsed time pass.
"It was hard to not smile after the chutes blossomed after my first full pull,” said Larkin. “It was my personal best and fastest I've gone to date in any car. Gregg [Lawrence, team owner] adapted to each curveball thrown his way with weather and track constantly changing. It was a great learning weekend, which saw good outcome from the team as a whole. I could feel my dad smiling down as I continue to try and follow in my father's footsteps."
Team sponsors include Commercial Business Machines, NGK Spark Plugs, Mechanix Wear, Clean Boost Oil, and Eugene William Construction.
