From jet cars to a cacklefest to the amazing CJ1400 electric Cobra Jet and the word’s first 200-mph electric dragster, there is something for everyone at this weekend’s Dodge//SRT NHRA Nationals presented by Pennzoil.

Las Vegas is a city built on excess, and that certainly applies to this weekend’s Dodge//SRT NHRA Nationals presented by Pennzoil. The penultimate event in the 2021 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series, the Las Vegas race will feature all four NHRA Pro categories, a full roster of NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Sportsman racing, Pro Mod and Factory Stock competition, as well as exhibition runs by the world’s quickest electric dragster, the world's quickest electric Cobra Jet Mustang,  jet dragsters, and a cacklefest.

The electric dragster will be the Current Technology entry out of the Huff Motorsports stable. Driven by Steve Huff, Current Technology became the first electric drag car more than 200 mph with a 201.07 pass at Tucson Dragway on May 14, 2020. The car is equipped with a purpose-built lithium polymer battery that produces 800 volts and two custom-wound axial flux dual-stack motors. At 1.6 million watts, it carries enough to power light 2,400 homes. Huff hopes to eventually put the car in the sixes at more than 210 mph.The all-electric CJ1400 Cobra Jet has been featured at a number of NHRA events and it has amazed fans wherever it has appeared. With low eight-second elapsed times, the car is easily the quickest of it's kind and it seems to get quicker with each passing event.

Jet cars will also light up the sky around The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway as the Muy Caliente team will have their two jet-powered dragsters on hand for the event. Owned by Tony Franco Sr. and Jr., the team features veteran drivers Sporty Bandimere and Jaren Mott. Bandimere drives the team’s Lucas Oil Terminal Velocity dragster, and Mott is the pilot of the MavTV Plus Missile powered by Lucas Oil.

The special features will also include a cackle fest featuring the Hell Fire Nostalgia Nitro Funny Car of Jim Shue and the Cross-Mann-King injected nitro dragster of Jerry King.

Exhibition runs are scheduled for 5 p.m. on Friday evening, Oct. 29. Check event schedule for additional times and info.
