Nostalgia Pro Stock exhibition on tap for the Dodge//SRT NHRA U.S. Nationals
As if the Dodge//SRT NHRA U.S. Nationals wasn’t special enough, the sport’s oldest and most prestigious event will now feature a special exhibition and pit area display featuring iconic factory hot rods of the past from the Southeast and Midwest Nostalgia Pro Stock Associations.
The event scheduled for Sept. 1-5 at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis, will host a field of seven iconic Pro Stock vehicles from the two Nostalgia Pro Stock Associations. Similar exhibitions were held earlier this year in Atlanta, Charlotte, and Norwalk , and were well received by the fans in those markets. The Indy event will feature on-track exhibition runs and a static pit area display.
The vehicles featured include the Reher-Morrison Camaro currently owned and campaigned by Mark Pappas, Mike Ruth’s Bob Glidden-tribute Ford Fairmont, Ted Peters Patriot Missile Dodge, Bill White in the Joe Satmary Camaro, Rick Katron’s Rod Shop Firebird, John Denbrock in the Grumpy’s Toy Vega that is a tribute to Bill “Grumpy” Jenkins, and Michael Ropp in the 1884 vintage Rod Shop/Nationwise Firebird raced by Butch Leal.
All seven racers are scheduled to make one run each on Friday at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 11:30 a.m., during the U.S. Nationals which has a rich history of Pro Stock competition dating back to the class’ debut in 1970.
